I'm a linguist by training, currently working at Amazon as an applied scitentist—which, in practice, means I do a mix of software development and machine learning research. At this point on my job, I talk to large language models more than I do to actual people.
I received my Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of British Columbia. My research concerns how bilingual speakers produce and perceive sounds.
I have a strong interest and training in machine learning, statistics, and natural language processing. I program primarily in Python for machine learning and NLP, and in R for statistical models and visualization.
